A video of a night landing at Los Angeles, sped up to about Mach 1.5. Tune is Sugarcult’s ‘Los Angeles’. Watch it now before their copyright lawyers force a takedown.
Mind you, you can’t tell it’s sped up until the actual touchdown…

I really should have a Giant movie night. Beginning of the End. Phase IV. Kingdom of the Spiders. Empire of the Ants….
@jenndolari Don’t forget Night of the Lepus. Unless they weren’t giant vorpal bunnies, in which case feel free to forget.
After that table-flipping post of mine, I think I need to ask myself why I’m doing this. Imposing this burden on me.
When I wrote it, I was writing from an obvious sense of frustration with myself - self-hatred - I was shocked by my unthinking actions on Friday night. I’d betrayed my Dad and myself. In a sense, my semi-temperance is a sort of punishment.
At the same time, I felt and still feel that I can do better in my life and savings regime. It’s going to be a challenge, and it has a set goal time, which I may have to adjust depending on externals. Doctor’s bills, counsellor’s bills, SL rents, that sort of thing.
The first big ask of the week will be on Wednesday. Weeks ago, I thought that it would be clever to slope off for a late afternoon pizza and beer at Tuatara’s cellar door (they have a special on Wednesdays and nice pizzas.) Then there’s Friday evening, and then Sunday, I think. It depends on the weather.
Let me explain the reasoning. Tuatara’s special is a fixed price. I also know how much I can drink on a Friday. Any other drinkies, I know I’m getting rorted at the bar and think twice. Think twice, spend less, find other things to do.
I suppose you could call it self-tough-love?
Because it’s my favourite-magazine-which-isn’t-the-New-Yorker, and I’m a little fried after reading Harold Brodkey’s “This Wild Darkness” last night (I actually slept for eleven solid hours after finishing it), and one of the “Oprah’s trainer talks to Real Women” segments made me crazy.
It was...
Quite the rant about all the hoopla over ‘portion control’, which is understandable. If you ask me, there’s an industry hellbent on making life more complicated than it needs to be, so we beg for products that promise to simplify our lives, but just add another coat of complicating varnish, so we beg for… and around it goes.
I AM CLEARING UP THIS WHOLE QUESTION ABOUT WHAT A FOX SAYS.
That’s actually pretty fucking scary.
did it say rawr or rawwn
hearing that shit in the middle of the woods at night is not pleasant.
…makes the color of your computer’s display adapt to the time of day, warm at night and like sunlight during the day. It’s even possible that you’re staying up too late because of your computer. You could use f.lux because it makes you sleep better, or you could just use it just because it makes your computer look better.
I’ve installed this, and I can definitely see a difference at first, but I don’t feel like I’m getting the usual eyestrain. There’s still a way to go before I know if the damn thing makes any difference to my sleep habits, but we’ll see.
I finally done dood another Ecclescraft video thing. #10, ‘Nothing to Do with Splinge’, finally got completed and uploaded last night. This episode, behold my underwater stock farm; watch Scleritas complete a parkour challenge; and twenty minutes of swanning about in Caledon to pad out the usual half-hour running time.
One of the reasons I’m starting this Tumblr account is because last night, I stared at the admin screen and asked myself: Why bother?
Why am I paying big biccies for web hosting when I hardly post at all?
Why am I still wrestling with TextPattern when it’s screamingly obvious that the damn system can’t do what I want it to do?
What’s the point of straining with TxP’s formatting and hammering in…
…well that’s it really.
Some of my posts involve lots of pictures. Others involve one picture. Some are text.
TextPattern’s all about the text, as blogware, but what I really want is a CMS that doesn’t feel as overstructured as, say, PHPnuke.
And then there’s the long formatted post. What I wouldn’t give for a rich text editor in TxP! At least Tumblr has one.
Also, Tumblr allows multiple images in posts; the only two things I’d really like are titles for photo posts and the ability to create photostories with the photo thumbs embedded in the text. I’m unsure how that would work but it would be awesome.
In the next few months I’ll probably go through my existing blog and consider shifting as many meaningful posts as I can onto here, before letting my hosting lapse and switching my domain to point here.
I first purchased web hosting services in 2004. Six years later, I’m returning to a free system. Plus ca change…
Ecclescraft #7 covers opening night of Dark City, the newest attraction in Noirland. It was absolute, screaming chaos - imagine over two dozen players in small spaces, all getting in each others’ way while trying to solve the puzzle.
This is less a playthrough than an experience: sped-up video, frantic ragtime music, and lots of Eccles failing to make jumps and hurting himself.
It also took so long to produce thanks to my computer getting overloaded and making editing ten times harder.
…went rather well.
One of my SL alts is Precipitate Flood, a female white rabbit - I didn’t want another male av, so nyeh to you. Originally she was to be a gushy freebie hound, but there’s plenty of freebie hounds blogging out there, so I gave up.
But now she’s got the DJ bug - and played her first set last night at Flight of the Kiwis’ hangout in Pacific Dreamz Lagoons. Unfortunately it was from 7pm-9pm NZT, so everyone was either having dinner (like I did) or out with their sweeties.
